HISTORY

The idea of helping students took root in the mind of a great social worker, Dr. Achyut Shankar Apte, in 1955. While pursuing his own education in France, he observed that the local citizens and the government extended help to needy students for pursuing education. He noted the government’s approach towards education and he started thinking about the state of education in India. On returning to India, he discussed his idea with like-minded persons and they made a beginning by arranging meals for 5 rural students who had come to Pune for education.

MANAGEMENT

Board Of Trustees :
The Board of Trustees decides the objectives and policies and ensure that they are implemented.

The The Advisory Board :
The Advisory Board helps in deciding the objectives and policies of Samiti and finds solutions to issues which the students could be facing.

Karyakarta Mandal :
52 persons who are dedicated to social service – called Karyakartas- are members of this committee. They supervise Samiti’s working through various sub-committees.
