STUDENTS' WELFARE ASSOCIATION
Vidyarthi Sahayyak Samiti (VSS) is a non-Government charitable organization at Pune, (Maharashtra state / India) and provides lodging, boarding facilities at a nominal cost to students (boys and girls) from economically weaker section of society coming to Pune to pursue higher education. VSS also conducts various programmes aimed at personality development and character building for the benefit of the students.

The motto of VSS is to encourage students to be selfsufficient.

News & Events [July - Oct 2014]
  1. July 14: Shri Yadavrao Gabaji pant Kulkarni, who was the managing Trustee of Samiti during 1972-1980, passed away in Pune due to old age.
  2. August 9: Parents of Late Jawan Hemraj Sing visited Lajpatrai Bhavan on the occasion of August Kranti Din.
  3. August 15: On the occasion of Independence Day, Flag hoisting was done by Dr. Smt. Smita Joshi at the Apte Hostel and by Shri VIswas Kachre at Lajpat Bhavan Hostel. Shri Kachre also gave a donation of Rs. 51,000
  4. August 18: 5 students from the girls' Hostel visited Baharat Forge under the CSR programme of the company.
  5. August 29 to 31: Ganesh festival was celebrated in an environment - friendly way in all the 3 hostels. Rangoli and cooking contest and drawing activity was organized for students
  6. Following major donations were received during July - October 2014:
    • Solar Photovoltaic electricity system was installed at Dr.Apte hostel. A donation of Rs. 5 Lac is given by Smt Jyoti Soman for this system. The office, its computers, some computers in the students computer room etc. will be powered by this system and about 350 KWH ( units ) of electricity will be saved reducing our bill by approx. Rs. 4000/- per month.
    • Shri Jagannath Vani of Maharashtra Seva Samiti, Canada, donated Rs. 3 lac. He also visited Lajpatrai Bhavan hostel on August 11
    • Rs. 1,35,000 as aid to students and Rs. 25,000 as donation from shri Parag Paranjape in memory of Prajakta Paranjape and Sarang Sathe
    • Rs. 1 Lac donation received from Shri Jagadish Pendse for naming the medical checking room.
    • Rs. 1 Lac donation received from Smt. Ranjana Natu in memory of Late Rohit Natu, as student aid.
    • Rs. 1 lac donation received from Shri Prataparo Pawar.
    • Rs. 1 Lac from Smt Anjali and Shri Dilip Naik in memory of their father.
    • Rs. 90,000/- from M/s ACG Pampac Machines Pvt Ltd under CSR programme for sponsorship of girl students.
    • Rs. 51,000/- from Shri Suresh Rajaram Kakde.
    • A new computer and printer for the Sahayya Sankalan section by Shri. Sachin Apte
    • Rs. 10,000/- from Shri Sudhir Bhanu, son of ex-Karyakarta Shri N.R. Bhanu.
    • Shri S.V.Sarode, Director, Govt. Polytechnic Pune, had a dialogue with students and also donated Rs. 10,000 to Samiti.
    • Past student Shri Suryakant Vinayak Joshi gave away Rs. 1000/- each to 51 students and donated Rs. 5,000/- to Samiti.
  7. Oct 1: The system for issuing computerized receipts for funds received as aid or donation has been commissioned.
  8. Oct 2: A blood donation camp and a cleanliness drive was organized
  9. Oct 7: Smt. Vibha Deshpande, Officer from Cytel, visited Samiti under CSR programme.
